Ordering a Commission
I am available for the following types of commissions:
I am available for the following types of commissions:
Digital Character Art - Great for roleplayers, authors, or game designers who want a visual reference guide for their characters.
Traditional Character Art - A more permanent piece to immortalize a beloved character or scene, that will be shipped to you.
Realistic Oil Portraits - A great gift for family, friends, and partners to have something classic and one-of-a-kind.
Realistic Charcoal Portraits - A wonderful gift like the oil portraits, but for less cost and time.
Pet Portraits - Pet portraits are available as any of the above styles or the styles shown here. I love animals and would be honored to draw your little buddy!
Custom - If you like anything else on my site not covered on this list, or if you have a unique idea you believe I may be able to fulfill, please feel free to discuss the options with me! I am fairly flexible and always up for a challenge.
The following price guide is specifically for Character Illustration, as other types of commissions are discussed on case-by-case basis. This guide is an estimate only, as different complexities of characters may have different costs - such as a character having extra limbs or wings, or multiple weapons or effects that will take longer to render.
How to get started:
Decide what type of commission you want - You can find examples of my work above with a basic price guide. This should be a good base guide for your budget. If your piece is unique or custom, we can discuss options!
Gather references or write a description - I will need references to create your piece. If you commission character art, I will need to know all of the basics such as hair color, height, body type, the expression you want, etc. If you have a pinterest or mood board for the character or screenshots if it's a video game character, that would be ideal! For realistic portraits of people or animals, I'll need photos of the subject.
Contact me - Send me an email at hbrambleberry@gmail.com or message me on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to begin planning your commission with me.
Discussion - The prices you see above are basic guides, but the final cost of the piece is always discussed and solidified on a case-by-case basis. This is because sometimes someone may want their character to have extremely complex armor/tattoos, or extra limbs or weapons that will add time - and therefore cost - to the piece. Oil Paintings or charcoal drawings are always discussed before the final price is settled because we have to decide size, materials, and determine what the cost of shipping will be. We will also talk about the deadline for the piece. Pieces with a short deadline - especially oil paintings - may incur a rush fee.
Payment:
When is payment collected - Payment is collected before I begin any sketches or research.
You can pay in parts - If you want to get, for example, a full-body, fully-colored character piece, but can't afford that yet, you are more than welcome to order a sketch or lineart, then later have the piece completed. If you are paying in parts I will have you pay upfront for the portion of the piece that I will be completing.
Payment Methods - I accept Credit/Debit, Paypal, Venmo, Google Pay, & Facebook Payments. If you want to pay with a card you will need to provide me with an email so I can send a payable invoice.
What to expect while the piece is being completed:
Stage approvals from start to finish
After payment is received I will begin the first stage, which is to sketch out the initial design of the piece, to determine composition, posing, etc. Once I have completed the concept sketch, I will send it to you for approval. At this time you can ask me to make any changes and adjustments.
Once the concept sketch is the way you like and you give me approval, I can move on to the next stage of the piece. This continues with each stage of the project until the art is complete.
If you decide later that you want to make changes after a stage has already been completed and the next is started, I will need to charge an adjustment fee.
Why an adjustment fee?
Example: You approved the sketch of a figure with a short haircut, so I move on to the drawing/lineart phase. After I've already lined the original haircut, you change your mind and decide you want long hair instead. I will have to go back and undo work that was already completed and redo it in order to make the change, which adds more time and work to the piece.
Finished Piece - Once the piece is finished, if it is a digital piece I will email you the full resolution image. If it is a traditional piece, I will need to ship it to your address.
Social Media - The piece will likely go up on my social media pages some time within the month, so please let me know if you have preferences on whether or not you would like to be tagged in the piece. Please tag me if you decide to post my art on your own social media, I would greatly appreciate the plug!
Enjoy!
